Abingdon Studios

“The Gallery Room” has been created for you by Abingdon Studios – Blackpool’s very own artist collective and studios.
It features artwork from 8 artists and has its own changing exhibition programme.

It has simple contemporary lighting and white walls to help you feel like you are sleeping in your own art gallery. It also has a super comfy king size bed, a large Smart TV (that you can mirror your own screens on) as well as a rich blue tiled bathroom with shiny German and Swedish fittings – in case all that white is too much. Its own dedicated free superfast wifi.

‘The Gallery Room’ features a selection of artwork from eight artists currently operating at Abingdon Studios (above Abingdon Market in central Blackpool), including works commissioned as part of ART B&B’s Arts Council of England-funded Work/Leisure residency programme, which ran throughout 2017.

Art works range from photography, print and collage, sculpture, digital and sound pieces from artists including Tina Dempsey, Garth Gratrix and Joseph Doubtfire just to name a few. Some of these artists have recently exhibited their work at Blackpool’s Grundy Art Gallery (just 100m behind ART B&B).

The Gallery Room’s exhibitions will change every six months or so.

The room has been painted in a custom-made colour by artist Laura Shevaun Green as part of Painting the Town! – a LeftCoast commissioned project. The colour is called ‘Fearless’ and is a colour match of the bandstand in Blackpool Stanley Park.
